Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Thanks to the support of many, last week's Athletics was a great success.  Congratulations to all students on their participation, sportsmanship and achievement. Our sincere thanks also to the staff of Mount Beauty, Falls Creek, Tawonga, Dederang Primary Schools   for their organisation and contribution to the day and to our volunteers Emily, Rob, Priscilla, Sam, Belinda, Richard, Andy, Charlie, Chris, Sean, Heath and Steve.  We couldn't have run this event without you!

Today students attended a special performance of 'Don't  Mess with the Dummies'.  This entertaining and acrobatic show provided lots of giggles. Our thanks to the Upper Kiewa Valley Regional Arts group for their support in organising this event.

Tomorrow, the 8th of April is the last day of term and we will be celebrating with a special dress up day.  The theme is 'Come as Someone who Inspires You!'  Students are asked to bring along a gold coin donation, to contribute to the Tawonga Red Cross appeal to support people affected by the NSW/QLD flood and the Ukrainian crisis.

The traditional ANZAC Day ceremony will be held at the Mount Beauty Cenotaph on Monday the 25th April.  If any students would like to join the March, they will need to be at the corner of Hollonds and Park St at 10.30am. Medals of family members or relatives, if applicable, can be worn on the right-hand side.

Students who wish to lay a wreath are welcome to do so and the SRC will lay a wreath on behalf of our community.

This year's NAPLAN (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) will be held from the 10th - 20th May for all students in Years 3 and 5.  If for any reason families do not wish their child to participate, please contact the office before Friday 29th April.

As we end the term, I would like to extend our thanks to all families for their support this term. We would especially like to thank everyone who has given their time to support our programs and other activities within the school and for your assistance with supporting health measures such as Rat Testing.

Our thanks also to the Red Cross and Neighbourhood Centre volunteers for their ongoing support with provided our delicious Breakfast Program and canteen services.

Finally I would like to extend a huge thank you to our wonderful staff for their continued efforts to support students and each other through staff shortages and other challenges, in order to provide the best learning outcomes we can.  I am deeply grateful for all that has been able to achieved this term and hope that, like families our staff can also take a well-earned break to recharge and enjoy time catching up with family and loved ones.

Please note that school resumes on Tuesday 26th April, due to the ANZAC public holiday.

Have a great holiday everyone!
