Prep News

Prep Reminders: 

• Please remind and encourage your child not to bring toys to school from the beginning of the term. It is devastating when our favourite toys get lost or broken. The only exemption for this is when a student would like to use their accumulated stickers to bring in a toy for the day. In this case, the toy stays in the classroom. 
• Please remember to pack a fruit snack in a separate container to your child's lunchbox.
• Please make sure that reader bags (including sound bags) are packed into school bags every day. 

This Term in Review... 

The Preps have had an incredible first term of school! As well as learning so many wonderful things in Literacy, Maths and Topic, we have been lucky enough to participate in all of these things!

Term 2 

Week 1

Literacy: we will begin our work on Stage 3 sounds. This week, we will focus on y, r and e. Our Heart Word is 'she'. Over the next few weeks, we will be learning to recognise syllables in words and will begin to look at word families for example, pig, big, dig. 

Week 2

Literacy: we will continue our work on Stage 3 sounds. This week, week we will be learning qu and z. Our Heart Word is 'we' and out word family is 'et - let, yet, net'.

Throughout the first two weeks of term in Mathematics, we will be continuing to learn about number sequence by ordering numbers, recognising odd/even numbers and finding patterns in numbers. We will also begin to look at ordinal number.

We will be exploring fairy tales throughout all subjects this term, which links perfectly to our topic of Topsy Turvy Tales in Mappen. 

Our topic for Respectful Relationships next term is Positive Coping. During the first two weeks we will be using games to further explore our emotions.
