Reading
- Understanding the reading process - 1. Getting ready to read, 2. Engaging in reading (using range of texts - e.g. narrative, information, transactional, etc.), 3. Reacting to reading
- A specific reading strategy will be explicitly taught each week, in relation to each - inquiry text, class textand a range of other text types.
- Whole class text will be Holes by Louis Sachar and will be provided in pdf version. You may want to purchase/ borrow a hard copy for your child. We do have a small number of hard copies for students to borrow. These will be allocated on the basis of need.

Speaking & Listening
- Skills learnt during the Term 1 public speaking worshops will be continually referred to. Wherever possible, feedback from the class/teacher will be given and acted upon.
- Preparation for possible participation in Brighton Secondary College's Primary Schools' Debating Competition (early Term 3)
