General Information & Reminders

Kangaroobie Camp

Homework

  • Homework will be posted (via Google Classroom) every second Monday and will be due one and a half weeks later, on a Wednesday.
  • There will usually be three tasks - inquiry (incorporating reading & writing), daily reading & summary (this term, the text is Holes by Louis Sachar) and mathematics. Tasks will either be completed by hand (and a photo attached) or completed digitally.
  • It is highly recommended that students set up a homework schedule so that homework tasks are not left to the last few nights. This is an important organisational skill necessary for a successful transition to secondary school.
  • Please ask your child to explain to you what the homework tasks are and how they are planning to complete them. It's always a great opportunity to give feedback by reading your child's homework responses before they hand them in to Google Classroom. We expect students to check and edit their work before submitting tasks.
  • Time allocation - we do not recommend that homework take any longer than 45 minutes on any given night. This includes 20 minutes of daily reading. We also do not recommend that homework be completed on weekends, but have included one weekend in the homework cycle because families can be very busy during the week. If the homework is taking your child longer than these recommendations, ask them to speak to their class teacher for clarification or modification.
