Classroom News - Year 3

Positive Growth Mindset

Year 3 has been working very hard in all their subject areas to have a positive growth mindset. We want to grow in our thinking and practices and not give up when we come across challenges in our learning.

Instead of saying " I can't make this better", try thinking "I can always improve my work".

Instead of saying "I'm not clever enough to do this", try thinking "I am learning how to do this".

Literacy:

During our Literacy block we are Reading Drac and the Gremlin and the Littlest Refugee. The children are becoming more familiar with our BIG WRITE process. Last week we wrote a narratives about a castle. Thank you to those families who are helping their children with Talk Homework on Wednesday's.  This helps to give your child ideas and vocabulary to use in their own writing.

Maths:

We are continuing work on Addition and Subtraction strategies.

Religion:

Year 3 has begun a new unit on Lent. The children may wish to share with you their idea's about Project Compassion.

PE:

The children have begun training for the cross country coming up on Friday, 29th March in Week 9.

Last week we began learning golf skills with Mr Walkley. This lesson occurs on Tuesday during our PE time.  A reminder to parents that children in Year 3 wear their yellow sports shirt on Tuesday and their coloured house shirt on Friday.
