Sport Aerobics
2019 World Titles
This week we said good bye and good luck to Emma O’Keeffe, our Year 7 coordinator, as she travels overseas to compete in the Sport Aerobics World Titles in Netherlands for the next 2 weeks. Throughout the year, Emma has dedicated herself to endless nights of training, fitness and salads in preparation for the upcoming events.
In late August her passion for the sport paid off as she traveled to sunny Queensland where she competed in the National Aerobics Competition, with fellow team mates from Peak Physique here in Shepparton. The three day event resulted in Emma bringing home a Gold medal in her division. With the World Championships now in sight, the countdown began for the big day.
At 4:00 am Wednesday morning, staff at McGuire tuned in to witness Emma’s powerful performance in the first round of the competition. With nerves running high Emma was able to place 9th, competing against 18 of the most elite competitors from around the world, qualifying her to compete in the semifinals.
Another early morning for McGuire enthusiasts saw Emma competing at 1.30 am for viewers back here in Australia and after months of preparation Emma has now placed 9th in the World Championships.
McGuire community would like to congratulate Emma on this amazing achievement and can’t wait to see what she continues to achieve heading into 2019.
