National Assessment Program – Science Literacy
Aitken College has been selected to participate in this year’s National Assessment Program – Science Literacy Pilot Study (NAP-SL). This is part of a broader national sample assessment program in which representative samples of students in Year 6 and 10 are assessed in Science Literacy, Civics & Citizenship and ICT Literacy every three years. Results from these tests are used to monitor student achievement across the country in key curriculum areas beyond the Literacy and Numeracy content of the annual NAPLAN tests. Students in 10C will undergo the NAP-SL on Friday 27 October. Students are not expected to prepare for the Pilot Study, which will involve an online test of science knowledge, an online inquiry task and a class discussion. Please feel free to direct any queries about the NAP-SL testing to me, or visit
