Performing Arts

I hope you all had a wonderful break – we are straight back in to a very busy Term.
College Play
Firstly, tickets are now on sale for the College Play: Beautiful Words. This performance weaves together three very different stories of survival, told through the eyes of three children in different times and places. The outcome is heart-rending, humorous and surprising by turns. From the horrors of Auschwitz Concentration Camp in the final days of World War II, to Taliban-ruled Kabul, to present day Australia, this enthralling play presents a rich tapestry of human experience, overlapping lives and the bonds that unite generations. A cast of 12 students undertake close to thirty roles, supported by another 10 staff and students handling the technical aspects of the show. While the play deals with some mature themes, it was written to be meaningful for students and to provide a tangible exploration of the issue of refugees that remain current in Australian society.
There are three performances, Thursday 19 October, Friday 20 October and Saturday 21 October all commencing at 7.30pm. Tickets are available now by going to

There are a number of other performances this term that I encourage you to get along to.
Twilight Concert
One of the biggest concerts for the year is the Twilight Concert which runs in conjunction with the College Open Afternoon on Tuesday 31 October. It involves students from all year levels in a three-hour (4.00pm – 7.00pm) outdoor show which takes place on the lawn area outside Reception. The Parents & Friends Association will be selling BBQ food, our usual coffee van and ice-cream vendor will also be on site, or bring a blanket and a packed picnic of your own and enjoy the varied and free program of music.
Director's Choice Gala Concert
Each year, we are excited to present some of the best work seen in the College across the year in the annual showcase of Aitken talent. Students from Year 3 to Year 12 have been especially invited to re-stage some of the items I have chosen as the best this year. If you have not attended many of the concerts throughout the year, this is a great way to see the talent we have.
The performance will commence at 7.30pm on Thursday 2 November in the Chapel and Performing Arts Centre. Tickets go on sale Monday 16 October and are a flat $10 each including booking fee. Alternatively, get a group together and get four tickets for the price of three, just $30. Go to https://www.trybooking.com to get your tickets to this wonderful show.
Year 10 Music Recital
On Monday 13 November, Year 10 Music students together with Year 11 VET Technical Production students and our VCAL students will head to Sydney Road Brunswick for their annual Music Recital, Musos At The Mallard. This is the major assessment for this subject and involves them playing at a professional venue with a show they have constructed themselves. Tickets go on sale Monday 23 October from
