In the Classrooms

The children have enjoyed developing their businesses and working for wages as part of Earn and Learn. Their maths number understanding and developing their understanding of money and financial matters has grown quickly . Learning about wholesale costs, taxes, fines, rent, discount percentages on products and paying with money and receiving change are all part of developing their business and money understanding. Market day is a great hit.

In writing the children are completing their Instructional narratives. They have worked very hard using the information they have learnt about their Inquiry question and writing it into a narrative. As part of this, they are aiming to improve their sentence fluency by varying sentence starts, length of sentences and by adding or improving some words within their writing. 

Gardening by Maddison

In gardening this term crystal has been teaching us how to grow plants and what time of year is the best time for certain veggies. We’re also learning how to use our $850.00 dollar grant wisely, so far we’ve used around $80.00 on seedlings and we’ve been putting them in our gardens. Another amount of money was spent on cow manure, on the same day we got the manure we had to put it in the garden beds to keep in the moisture. Ascha, Mia and I were shoveling the manure into wheelbarrows, they were then shoveled into the gardens. About ½ hour later, Ascha, Mia and I had shoveled out every scrap of dirt out of the trailer.
