Mr. Stark's advisory enjoys some time outdoors during their identity unit

A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LYMAN

Dear BAMS families,

In general, I am incredibly pleased with the start of the school year. Given the pandemic and all the things that could have gone wrong, it's been incredibly smooth here. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your cooperation during such a difficult time and to thank the teachers and staff who have worked so hard to prepare for our students to return. Students have been respectful of the safety rules, morning routines are now quite smooth, and the classrooms and hallways are quiet and safe. It's a little too quiet to be honest with you!

Below you will find some important information and a few requests. Please take a few minutes to read each section.

Thank you for your continued support of BAMS and for your active involvement in your child's/children's education.

Sincerely,

Keith Lyman- Principal

Open House

We will be holding virtual open houses for hybrid families next week. I will be sending links out to families to invite you to the event. Seventh grade open house will be on Tuesday, October 6th at 6 pm. The 8th grade open house will be on Thursday, October 8th at 6 pm. The fully remote Team Felix open house will be held in late October on a date to be announced.

BAMS Leadership Council

The next BAMS Leadeship Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 13 at 6 PM. It was originally scheduled for Oct 6, and we have postponed the meeting due to the Open House.

School Picture Day

Due to the pandemic, we have decided to postpone holding school photos until sometime after the new year.

Phase 2 to Phase 3 Announcement from Governor Scott

If you have paid attention to local and state news, you will recall the governor of Vermont announced last week that schools would be moving from phase 2 to phase 3 learning. This announcement will not likely change much about what we are doing right now in school. We will continue to hold small group classes and maintain six feet distancing as much as possible during the school day. The announcement did open up the opportunity to play more interscholastic sports, but it is very unlikely we will have middle school opponents to play this fall. The high school teams are playing limited game schedules.

Emergency Drills

Last week, we began to practice evacuation drills. During these drills, we maintained 6-foot distancing and the students and staff did an amazing job! In the near future, we will begin discussing and learning about ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate). ALICE is an option and action based response to a school emergency.

Important Information Regarding Required School Forms

We have forms that need to be completed by all parents/guardians and we need your help if you have not completed them. We are no longer collecting paper based back to school forms. We are using PowerSchool to collect this important information. If you are a returning parent to BAMS, we hope you have accessed your account in the past and that you can simply go in and complete the forms. If you have not done so, please do so ASAP. The forms tab is in teh left menu. If you are new to BAMS, please watch this video for a quick tutorial on how to access your forms. Thank you!

Attendance

We have high expectations for attendance to all classes on all school days. Unless a student is sick or has communicated to us they will not be in attendance, we expect students to be "in class" remotely. Attendance to remote classes (including advisory) is required and we keep track of attendance for all classes. If a student is marked absent during the morning advisory, we expect a parent is calling Dawn Petrovsky at 451-3533 or emailing her at dpetrovsky@wsesdvt.org to report the absence. Thank you!
