Open Day

Last Saturday saw us hold our annual Open Day here at the College. This is an amazing opportunity to showcase the College to parents and grandparents of our current students and also show off what amazing facilities we have to prospective students and their families.

The work that goes into a day like this is remarkable. The menu alone, not withstanding the change to the eating arrangements forced upon us as a result of COVID, is a massive undertaking. Greg and his crew had to devise a menu that could be served in individual containers making it easy to hand and eat on the run. The food was still amazing with many compliments from the public.

I know the work and planning that has gone into the preparation for the meals on the day and I think all the staff involved did a great job. Well done.

The facilities looked fabulous once again and the cleaners, ably led by Grace, had all our buildings looking sparkling, despite the weather thrown at us on the day. The College could not have looked better as everything was cleaned and sterilised throughout the day. Great job.

To the students who worked across the campus with staff in the build up to Open Day, well done.

As Mr Howell and I drove around at lunch time to hand out the lunches to each section, we were impressed with the way everything looked despite the torrential rain we experienced in the morning.

Throughout the day we ran four buses to all the sections, with an estimated 650 passengers transported.  We had visitors lining up for buses from very early and right throughout the day.  I am sure everyone appreciated that we were working as hard as we could to get them out to the sections. Grace and her crew were kept busy between trips ensuring we were as compliant as we could be with sanitisation.

I know the College Cow Mascot got a run out during the afternoon, very entertaining from all reports for the public.

A massive thankyou to the Residential staff who drove buses, cooked sausages and sold drinks throughout the day, along with a multitude of other things such as preparing and packing up. Also the washing and cleaning of the buses in the lead up and after the day when they were filthy dirty both inside and out.

To all the students who worked with myself in the lead up to the day and on the day itself thank you. You and your families should be very proud of your efforts.

Closed Weekend

This weekend is a closed weekend and we hope everyone gets an opportunity to relax and unwind as we return next week for the push to the end of term.

Student Quiz Night

Thursday the 24th June is the night for the annual Quiz night at the College. This is always a wonderful night, full of fun and entertainment and I’m sure this year will be no different. We would like to invite Day students to attend and be part of the College.

Thankyou to Boarding Students

Last night we had a sudden loss of power at the College and staff onsite reported that students were very mature in the way they conducted themselves and made their way to the gymnasium in an orderly fashion.  Once there the dorm monitors proceeded to check off the dorm rolls to ensure everyone was accounted for.

It was great to see how mature the students were, this reflects all the practice they have with the fire drills and when the alarms actually do go off. Great work everyone involved.

Have a great weekend.
