Carmel Stutterd

Dear families,

It is wonderful to have all our students back and get back to 'normal'.

Thank you for your support over the lockdown.

We have streamlined the  process for the distribution  of devices for remote/flexible learning if it is required again.

New School Website

Please checkout our new school website. It look fabulous and the calendar and events pages will be populated and live on Monday.

Grade 4 Chromebooks

Grade 4's received their Chromebook yesterday and were very excited. A huge thank you goes to Mr Wood and Micheal Elliott ( ICT manager) for the rollout. It was great to see parents online yesterday afternoon for the tutorial that Thomson and Michael ran for the parents. It has been recorded for parents to watch when it is convenient for you.

Gr 6 Dolphin Ambassadors

Yesterday 4 of our grade 6 leaders went to Sorrento to swim with the seals and look for dolphins. They were very lucky to see some dolphins swimming around the boat and had a beautiful day at sea. Thank you to the parents who took the students to Sorrento and to Mrs Wendy Mertens (Environmental Science teacher) and Mrs Sue Crisp ( K2G) for supervising our students.

Tutor Learning Funding

In October 2020, the Victorian Government announced the Tutor Learning Program. This program aims to provide funding for the recruitment of tutors to accelerate student learning in 2021 and to compensate for the disruptions caused by COVID-19 pandemic.

This term we will be assessing all students in literacy and numeracy. When the data has been collated and analysed, the leadership team will look at the students who have not made the academic gains that would have been expected in a normal school year and target these students requiring the most assistance.

The funding allocation for each school is notionally based on the provision of two or three 45 minutes sessions each week for groups of approximately five students for 10-26 weeks. The way in which the tutoring program is structured in each school will vary and will be based on the needs of each.

The funding that St Louis has received is $40,000 and it will pay for the tutor’s salary. This should allow 2 terms of support for a small number of students.

We will commence this program in term 2 and parents will be notified if your child will be participating.
