Mathspace

All students at Wantirna College are expected to have access to our online program, Mathspace. Mathspace serves a number of important roles, including:

  • Providing access to a quality digital textbook with worked examples and videos
  • Providing students opportunites to complete assigned tasks, so they can demonstrate their learning
  • Providing opportunities for students to explore different areas of mathematics of interest to them

The annual cost of a Mathspace subscription is $25. The paywall came into effect over the long weekend, and since then we have had over 500 students pay their subscription, which will allow them to continue using Mathspace.

There have been some unforeseen issues with this paywall which should now be resolved. When students log in to Mathspace, it should go straight to a payment screen, where you will be able to input your credit card details.

If you have any questions please contact me at the school.

Swinburne KIOSC Challenge

Late in 2020, Year 7 students participated in a competition against other schools in the area, run by the team at Swinburne KIOSC. Over a three week period, students were completing a series of challenging tasks in class which included some questions set on Mathspace.

Two of our 2020 Year 7 students (current Year 8 students) were recognised by the team at KIOSC as demonstrating persistence and ‘grit’ when completing these tasks. They were rewarded with a prize of an Alexa Echo Dot which was presented to them recently in class. Congratulations to Blake and Chloe on receiving this prize, and thanks to the team at KIOSC for providing the prizes.
