What’s been happening at BBPS…
Be sure to check out our ‘BBPS Life’ section of the newsletter for an insight into the outstanding learning taking place across our school this past two weeks. With a whole school focus on ‘Building positive learning communities’ and ‘gratitude’ all teachers and students are to be congratulated on the establishment of focused and engaging learning spaces this term.
Julie Shepherd, our regular English consultant, was welcomed back this week – she will be working closely with teachers across the school, focused on building consistent practice in guided reading, writer’s notebook and the reader’s workshop. We thank her for again working with us.
Teaching teams will be engaging in Professional Practice Days over the next two weeks – teachers will be released to focus on planning curriculum for term 2. With a focus on differentiation – how we can support and extend our students – teachers will engage in professional development on this area.
School Tours are back! This year we will be conducting tours on Tuesdays at 9:30am. New families are encouraged to book in via the Administration Office as an opportunity to learn more about our school.
Congratulations in Sport …
Well done to the BBPS Team, who represented our school at the Division Swimming carnival this week at Oakleigh Recreation Centre. Outstanding results by all students:
Ava Mason, Abbey Lyons, Mary Vlantis, Belis Gulener, Ollie Wilson, Harper Slattery, Miller White, Hamish Ward, Alexander Darby.
The Seaside District Tennis Tournament took place this week – congratulations to Aaron Kwok, Belis Gulener, Sanjhanaa Thiyagu, Harvey Stroeder, Tiger Zhang and Slade Caldwell for their selection and participation in this competition. Special mentions to Belis, who won her age group title and Slade who won three matches in a row!
This week is the last week of Interschool Sports for grade 5 and 6 students – congratulations to all our teams for their valiant efforts in lacrosse, volleyball, cricket, oztag, softball and basketball. Finals will take place in term 4 as part of the Summer Sport program.
Don’t forget that BBPS is supporting Bullying No Way Day tomorrow – children are invited to wear orange along with free dress clothing. Our SRC representatives will be facilitating a social and emotional session with their class, focused on bullying prevention.
Next week …
Grade 3 and 5 will be participating in a NAPLAN Coordinated Practice Test throughout the week. The purpose of this test is to check VCAA bandwidth, and its capabilities in conducting the NAPLAN online assessment across the state. This is to support preparation for the testing period, to take place in May. No results will be provided to the school for students’ individual assessment.

Celebration Picnic: BYO picnic rug, food and drink.

On arrival, please sign in using the QR codes displayed on the building walls. Several hand sanitising stations will be available for your use throughout the playground. We ask that if you or your family are unwell or are displaying COVID symptoms that you stay at home. Social distancing markers will be placed in the playground to support you to socially distance as you set up your picnic spot.
The toilet block behind the main building (near Exon Street) will be open for use – please be aware that there will be no teacher supervision, and therefore children will not be supervised unless you are with them.
We are extremely grateful that we are able to have you all onsite to celebrate a great term back at school. Thank you in advance for following our COVID Safe guidelines to ensure we all stay safe … and at school!
