Junior School Learning

Year 1 and 2

Reading

In reading, students have been learning about the structure and language features of narratives. They have been reading different narratives and identifying the orientation (when, who, where) complication (problem) and resolution (how the problem is solved) and then retelling the story including these parts.

Writing

In writing, students have been exploring how to plan an engaging narrative story. Students have focused on characters and setting, describing them in a detailed and entertaining way for the reader. They explored the way adjectives have an impact on someone's perspective of a character or setting and made adjective posters to support their planning in the future.

Maths

In maths, students have been exploring and creating number lines from a variety of hands on materials. They have created a range of number lines using Lego, in their books and even string and pegs (from Mr Smith’s clothes line!).

Indonesian

In Indonesian this week grade 1/2 students have been learning about greetings for different times of the day and revising numbers to 20. Foundation students have worked on a little book of Indonesian numbers to take home so they can practise with their parents. They are learning numbers up to ten.
