Student Excellence Program

For those students who are working above their expected level we aim to provide a number of enrichment/extension programs that complement what they are learning in the classroom.  As you may be aware, last year the Victorian Government announced The Student Excellence Program.  "This is a program designed to extend and support our high ability students to excel and reach their full potential".  The two programs offered are for students who have been recognised as working at a high level across one or more learning areas.

  • Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series - A series of high-quality, extension activities for high-ability students. The virtual program is delivered by organisations, universities, Tech Schools, teacher associations, and science and mathematics specialist centres to deliver activities within a series. Students are selected based on teacher recommendation and results.  This was trialled in Term 4 last year at our school and was very successful.  This will commence again in Term 2 2021.
  • The Victorian High-Ability Program - selected students in Years 5 and 6 participate in a 10-week online extension and enrichment program, in either English and mathematics. The virtual program, delivered by Virtual School Victoria, focuses on extending and developing students' mathematic and English abilities.  Students for this program are selected by the Department of Education.  This term six Grade 6 students are participating in the maths program.

Our High Ability Practice Leader coordinates the student involvement in the two programs offered by the Victorian Government.
