Music Update 

Interesting Fact:  Music and language learning share many of the same brain processing networks such as memory and auditory processing. Reading in particular is closely linked to music learning as they use the same neural system.

Year 7 music information sessions:

Year 7 music information sessions have now concluded and students who showed an expression of interest are in the process of having one free trial lesson. Once your student has had their trial lesson, parents and carers will receive an email from the teacher with more information on how to enroll your student in lessons.

The EMC Instrumental Music Teachers have done a wonderful job in demonstrating these instruments to over 300 enthusiastic year 7 students. You can see Mr Jones in action below!

Congratulations to:

Liam Sibthorpe in Year 12 for being named as the 2021 Student Music Leader.

The following students were successful in auditioning for the 2021 Stage Band: Kate Hammill, Emily Humphrey, Thea Mills, Jack Vukadinovic, Liam Sibthorpe, Tayla Cameron, Gus Morrison, Anghus Kelly, Gabby Conlin, Ashlyn Schmidt, Charlotte Dickinson and Mia Edwards.

Calling for expressions of interest:

We are looking for students who are interested in representing the music program for Open Night. Students will be performing at nominated sites around the College 'busking style'. This is a really great opportunity for students to showcase what they do as well as develop their performance skills. We are looking for soloists, duo's, trios, of any instrument combinations from any year level! If you are interested in performing, see Ms Simmonds to put your name down.

ENSEMBLE REHEARSAL TIMES

All of our ensembles are now rehearsing weekly at the times listed below. Junior Band rehearsals will commence at the beginning of Term 2.

Monday:       lunchtime - Vocal Ensemble

                        3 - 4.30 - Senior Concert Band

Tuesday:       3 - 4.15 - Intermediate Concert Band

Wednesday: 8.45 am - Stage Band

                         lunchtime - Percussion Ensemble

Thursday:      lunchtime - Clarinet Ensemble

                         lunchtime - Flute Ensemble
