VCAL UPDATE

Year 12 VCAL Salvation Army Excursion:

On the 9th of March we went to the Salvation Army in the city. During our excursion, the Salvation Army education officer took us on a tour around the city and told us some story about people who experience homelessness. It was interesting to hear how they overcame their adversities and got their life back on track with the support of the Salvation Army.

We learnt that there are more types of homelessness and that there is a stereotype which only represents a small number of the people who are experiencing homelessness. We were also made aware of the ways the Salvation Army help people through the café and their grocery store.  We now have been able to formulate some ideas of what we might like to do for our Community Impact project.

Year 12 VCAL Salvation Army Excursion:

On Thursday 11th pf March we went to the Yakult factory in Dandenong. We took a bus from school. At the factory we got given a tour around and saw how the Yakult is made and packaged. We learnt that they send the Yakult all over Australia and New Zealand and we also learnt about their safety requirements which will help with our jobs and work placement later. This ties into the work we do in Work Related Skills.
