Calrossy Netball continues to make impressive progress. Last Sunday, August 6th, at the Tamworth Netball's All Ages Carnival, our school proudly presented three teams: Calrossy Bobcats, Hawks, and Calrossy Meerkats – our first mixed team to compete in the carnival.
Calrossy Meerkats participated in the Opens Mixed division, facing some tough opponents. Despite their lack of experience, the Meerkats showed their athleticism and determination finding their rhythm as the day progressed.
In the 13/14's division, the Calrossy Bobcats faced challenges but managed to display strong netball skills after dealing with some last-minute team changes. The latter part of their day brought success as they won their final few games. Special thanks go to the additional players who stepped in on that day, and all team members should feel proud of their combined results.
The Calrossy Hawks also participated in the 13/14 division alongside the Bobcats. The Hawks had a fantastic day, winning all seven of their games with teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship. Their focus on refining their skills during training and development opportunities has undoubtedly been beneficial and the day was a great lead up as they approach the Netball Finals.
Special thanks to the parent volunteers, Mrs. Nicky Aitken and Ms. Tracey Saunders, for their support on the day. We also appreciate the time given by our umpires, Eve Maloney, Lucy Bomford, and Shakaya Fenton, who ensured the event ran smoothly. Your contributions were invaluable in making this event possible.
On the 8th of August, the Calrossy 5/6 Boys Soccer team travelled to Maitland Park to participate in the HRIS Primary Soccer Gala.
Throughout the day, the Calrossy boys displayed a commendable blend of resilience, perseverance, and competitive spirit.
In the initial pool games, the team's skills were evident, resulting in a commendable victory. However, the following pool games were tough resulting in a loss and a draw. These results relegated the team to the lower half of the draw for the remaining games.
As the day progressed to its conclusion, the final standings saw the Calrossy team securing the 12th position overall.
Special thanks to Mr Stephen Dooley for Coaching the boys, and to Mr Chambers for accompanying the team. Thanks also to Mr Morrish for driving the bus for the early start!
