Athletics Carnival

Dear parents/caregivers,
Newlands Primary School is celebrating the Athletics Carnival this term on Monday 7th August. The event will take place at Jackson Reserve in Coburg from 10am -2:30pm.
Students must wear their house colours. A hat/sunscreen/rain jacket are recommended depending on weather condition. Spiked footwear is not permitted. Please ensure your children bring a small bag with lunch box, snacks, and bottle of water. We urge you to cancel any lunch orders for your kids at the school on this day.
Class teachers, staff members and students in Grades 2-6 will walk together to the location at 9am. Students in Foundation and Grade 1 are staying in the school in the morning and will walk to the track at 11am. Everyone will walk back to school after the event finishes. Pick up time at school as usual (3.30pm).
Students who come 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Grades 4, 5 and 6 will be asked to represent Newlands Primary School at the SSV Coburg District Athletics Championships on Wednesday 16th August.
We are thrilled to announce that for this year, Coburg Athletics Track will open the canteen and will be offering a diverse range of delicious food options. In addition to pies, hot dogs, and sausage rolls, we will have vegan and halal choices available to cater to different dietary preferences. The canteen will also stock a variety of refreshing drinks, including soft drinks, milk drinks, juice boxes, and lollies. This is not provided by the school; it is an independent source, and we take no responsibility for food allergies and costs.
Furthermore, we are excited to announce a special event at 2 pm – the 400-meter teacher/parent race! This race is a fantastic opportunity for teacher and parents/caregivers to lead by example and demonstrate the importance of an active lifestyle to our students. We encourage all willing participants to join in the fun and show our children the joy of physical activity and friendly competition.
We look forward to an amazing Athletics Carnival and appreciate your support in making this event memorable for all our students.
If you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to reach out via SENTRAL.
Your faithfully,
Raul Berral – Health and PE teacher
