During the second week of the school Holidays, Kinross Wolaroi was represented for the first time in the Regional Interschools Snowsports competition at Perisher Valley. With some challenging conditions our students represented the school incredibly well, producing outstanding results for first time competitors. We had six athletes represent the school across five divisions, in five different disciplines. In Division 2 Alpine and Ski Cross, William Hoskins placed 27/60 and 28/55 respectively. Eve Napier and Charlotte Hoskins competed in Division 3, Eve placing 23/78 in Alpine and 23/70 in Ski Cross and Charlotte placing 26/78 in Alpine. Our youngest competitor Madeleine Russell placed 38/68 in Division 5 Alpine. Excitingly, we have two Division 4 athletes who have qualified for the NSW Interschools Championship in all their events, Jett Johnson who placed 8/26 and narrowly missed out on a medal placing 4/25 in Snowboard GS and Snowboard Cross respectively and Thomas Karrasch who placed 15/80 in Alpine, 14/69 in Ski Cross and very excitingly took out the bronze medal in Moguls.
I want to congratulate all members of the 2023 Snowsports Team on their amazing effort and positive attitude carried throughout the week. It was an amazing experience for all, and I would like to extend thanks to their parents and families that came and supported their children and other members of the team, spectating in some wet and windy weather. Jett and Thomas will compete back in Perisher Valley on 21-24 August in the hopes of securing a place at this year's National Interschools Championship in Falls Creek later this term. I wish them the best of luck for their events and look forward to sharing some more amazing results in the weeks following the NSW Championship.
