Rugby Report

Whilst most of our Rugby players had a well earned break, we still had some boys representing the ISA of the NSW Schoolboys trials. Luke Dominello, Sam Fabar, Shep Taylor and Jack Tink were all selected to represent the ISA 2nd XV, Oscar Cleary represented the ISA U16 1st XV and Elijah Thaiday-Shin was selected as Captain of the ISA U16 2nd XV. Well done to these boys.

From these Championships, Oscar Cleary was selected to represent the NSW Schoolboys U16 1st XV. This is an enormous achievement from Oscar and just reward for the huge amount of work Oscar puts into his athletic pursuits.

Across the final few days of the holidays our 1st XV and 2nd XV squads headed to Sydney for a 4 day training camp. After arriving art our accommodation, the boys headed straight to Sydney University where they trained with the Sydney Uni Rugby Club Head of Rugby, Nick Ryan. Following this session our boys were hosted by St Andrew's College for a quick tour and a welcome feed. The day concluded with a trip to the SCG where the boys cheered on the Sydney Swans in their victory over the Western Bulldogs.

Day 2 of the camp saw us head to CommBank Stadium where the boys witnessed the Wallabies' Captain's Run. This behind the scenes experience saw our boys watching the final training session before the Wallabies played Argentina. Our boys were able to mingle with the players and Sam Fabar headed on to the stadium to attempt to catch a "floater" bomb from Wallaby Reece Walsh. After a quick lunch we were off to train on Bondi Beach. The boys were put through a very physical contact and fitness session. Such was the ferocity within the session, once the boys had completed training, the large crowd of locals and tourists that had gathered on the promenade to watch, broke out in thunderous applause. Congratulation to George Wakem who was the eventual winner of the beach flags competition.

Day 3 began with a training session at Waverley College's home ground, Queens Park. Our boys were privileged to have former Wallaby and current Stan Sport commentator Morgan Turinui run the boys through an attack session. We then headed back to Bondi Beach for recovery before heading off to watch the Wallabies v Argentina Test Match. Overall it was an outstanding camp and will hold us in good stead for our remaining Competition games.
