Year 3/4

MATHS:

In Maths students have finished a unit of study on collecting data and creating graphs. Students have explored picture graphs, column graphs and dot plot graphs. Students have been enjoying surveying their class to collect data on different topics, such as creating lunchtime clubs, school camp preferences, and breakfast club menus. Here are some work samples from different students.

Procedural texts in 3-4

In the 3-4 team, we have been looking at procedural texts. We have analysed the structure these texts use and have analysed the imperative verbs and adverbs used to give readers their instructions. During the lessons, our students have used their reading skills to follow instructions and make paper planes, vegemite sandwiches and origami. 

They have also conducted science experiments after which they wrote their own procedural texts. The students have thoroughly enjoyed these experiments, creating lava lamps and dancing sultanas.
