Prep
A snapshot from the Preps...
It has been a busy start to Term Three
100 Days of School:
We celebrated our students 100th Days of Prep, as some of you would have seen on the day and then with the photos that were sent home, students and teachers used the theme ‘100’ to show great imagination. Students participated in a cat walk around the school to show off their amazing costumes and plenty of other exciting activities. They finished the day with a movie and popcorn, and of course. A dance party!
Science:
During week 6 we welcomed in teachers from Deakin University who taught us about solids, liquids and gases. No doubt the highlight of the week was seeing the students getting their hands dirty when we made our own oobleck.
Literacy:
Our current unit of work involves us learning about the parts of a text that we are writing and reading. We look for the introduction of characters and a setting during the beginning, create a problem in the middle of the text and then solve the problem at the end. Fairy Tales have been used as our class mentor texts, we are learning that Fairy Tales include magical and imaginary characters.
Numeracy:
We have completed two units of work so far in Term Three, Addition and Subtraction. For both units we developed an understanding of the common language, for Addition- plus, altogether, add, all in and Subtraction- take away, minus and difference.
Along with Addition and Subtraction, students have also explored numbers up to 20, and will continue to count and order these numbers over the next few weeks.
Thanks Mrs White:
A HUGE shout out to Mrs White who we loved having in the Prep room whilst Mr Randall was away. Thank you!!
