Message from the School Principal

Mrs Kaylene Carlin

Dear Families & Friends,

Prep 100 Days!

Today we are thrilled to celebrate the first 100 days of school with our wonderful Prep children. It has been an incredible journey of learning, growth and fun-filled experiences. Our Prep children started their Sacred Heart journey with excitement and enthusiasm! From the first day, they have been eager to explore and learn in our nurturing environment.

In the past 100 days, they have been busy learning about our Sacred Heart "Ways of Being Together", making new friends, building connections and learning valuable social skills along the way.

Through an explicit and targeted teaching and learning model, Prep children have been actively building knowledge and skills in English & Mathematics, as well as other areas of the Victorian curriculum.

Through Discovery, the children have been actively engaged in learning about their world, building on prior knowledge, asking questions and sharing their wonderings. They have been noticing the sacred in the ‘everyday’, making Jesus real and relevant through our actions and interactions with one another and our world.

Our young artists have amazed us with their creative masterpieces! They have been busy painting, drawing, and crafting, expressing their imaginations and creativity.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our parents and carers for their continuous support and involvement. Your partnership is invaluable to us.

As we celebrate the first 100 days, we eagerly look forward to the days ahead, full of learning, growth, and more joyous moments.

World Youth Day Pilgrimage

Over the past two weeks, Vivian Do (Year 2 educator) has been on pilgrimage to Rome & Lisbon. Last week, the emerging leaders had a surprise guest speaker, Pope Francis. Vivian reflects on her experiences as a pilgrim:- "My pilgrimage in Rome and Assisi has been extraordinary. The experiences so far have given me time to reflect upon what it means to be a Catholic and an educator. The meeting with the Pope was the most incredible moment for me as a Catholic. The words of wisdom he shared with everyone touched my heart & soul deeply."

Cuppa & Chat

This year, Andrea and Michael have been working together as Family & Community Engagement team to explore ways in which we build on family school partnerships.

One of the initiatives is a Cuppa & Chat with Kaylene, Andrea or Michael and other members of the leadership team.  The purpose of the Cuppa & Chat is to meet parents you may not have met before, share ideas and feedback with our school leadership and engagement team or just say Hi!

Our second Cuppa and Chat will be on Friday, 11th August after school drop off in the staff room with Kaylene & Kim (Maths Leader).

All are welcome

Book Week 2023

Book Week is an annual event organized by the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA). It is one of the most significant events in the Australian literary calendar and is celebrated by schools, libraries, and bookstores across the country. The primary purpose of Book Week in Australia is to promote children's literature, Australian authors, and illustrators, and to encourage a love for reading among young people.

Once again, Sacred Heart will be celebrating Book Week with a myriad of activities and events held across the week. Click on the link below to learn more about the exciting things we have planned at Sacred Heart.

Beanies

Our new Sacred Heart beanies are just the thing to keep Hunter and Isaac warm on this chilly winter morning. We think they look pretty cute! Beanies are available to be ordered online at our uniform supplier, PSW in Port Melbourne.

Parents are asked to ensure students are wearing the correct uniform to school each day. This also includes appropriate footwear and jackets.

We thank you for your support in maintaining this school wide expectation.

This Sunday, 6th August, the Parish Pastoral Council will be providing an opportunity for all to gather for a cup of tea/coffee and a chat after the 10am Mass at Sacred Heart church.  We hope to see you there.

After the feedback received at the Parish Forums in March the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) has continued to work on refining the draft strategic plan and discussing how best to implement the plan ready for approval at the Annual Parish Forum in November. We would love to discuss these ideas with you at the upcoming Parish Forums.
