Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Guardians and friends of Nazareth

It’s time to consider the future, so what a wonderful opportunity for our senior students to come and enjoy the Careers Expo and Subject Selection evenings. Several organisations were invited to this evening, providing our families with information about careers, universities, TAFE colleges and specialised courses and pathways into the workforce. This, together with some of our year level briefings, will assist students and families to make some informed decisions about their future courses.  Please continue to contact the homeroom / pastoral teacher if you need further assistance and guidance with the Subject Selection process.

Last week our Year 7s, 8s and 9s were privileged to listen to Susan McLean, an expert in making our students aware of the law and proper use of social media outlets. This was an extremely informative session and most helpful to our students.  It was clear that many of our students use their social media platforms without realising some of the implications of their actions, both in the short and long term. I encourage you to look up Susan McLean’s work on the internet and if the opportunity arises, please listen to some of her publications.

I thank families for their support and encouragement for our Athletics Carnival. Despite the cold, the students and our staff had a wonderful day and the house competition was fiercely competitive. Congratulations to MacKillop House for winning and also to Knox House for having the most participants present on the day.

In conclusion, I thank our VCE and VCE VM students and families for attending the Student Progress Meetings.  The information provided will assist our students in their endeavour to succeed.

A reminder for families that if you need to contact individual staff, please email them directly or call the school and ask to be put through to the relevant staff member. Together we can all make a difference.

Keep safe, and God bless

Mr Sam Cosentino

Principal
