PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

It has been a busy few weeks. I have begun interviewing prospective Year 7 2024 students and their parents, with 60 completed I am halfway through. I enjoy meeting the Grade 6 students and finding out about their interests and favourite subjects. So far I have met many kind and talented students. I look forward to them joining our community in 2024.

Next week is our JJAMM Week. The Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop is on Tuesday 8th August and we will celebrate this important day in our calendar with Mass. Throughout the week students will have opportunities to celebrate Joseph, Julian, and Mary MacKillop during activities such as eating Jam Donuts, wearing PJammas, and the Annual Walkathon. Donations on the day of the Walkathon contribute to a well-being fund to support students and their families within our school community. Previous donations have enabled us to provide families with supermarket vouchers and uniform items amongst other things. I hope your child can donate to the Walkathon.

The School Production of We Will Rock You is only weeks away. Students and staff have been rehearsing all year for this week of performances. I am always amazed at how talented our students are. Mrs Henderson and Mrs Quaife, with several other staff, work tirelessly to ensure that we get to see a fantastic show. If you have not purchased tickets yet, please don’t hesitate.  I will see you there.

It was a surprise to receive a message from Gerry Vytilingam last week from Italy. Gerry is currently on a pilgrimage to World Youth Day in Lisbon. Gerry is not in this image, however, you can see Pope Francis, as Gerry had the amazing opportunity to sit in an audience with the Pope.

Anna Whiting and Grace Doherty (Year 11) have also begun their pilgrimage. I look forward to their return at the end of next week. I am sure that you will be able to read about their adventures in the next newsletter.
