P&F Kingfisher Fair

History

The Kingfisher Fair is an off-shoot of the Kingfisher Creative Arts Festival.  Both of these events have become an important and fun part of the tradition of our school. The Kingfisher Creative Arts Festival started as a community service project initiative in 2001 to raise money for the Albany Women’s Refuge Centre.  The Festival promoted school spirit through students being involved in a range of competitions and activities in the numerous branches of the arts.  It was created and organised by Mrs Kathy Fenwick with her characteristic passion and dedication.  It was a huge success, but due to the school’s growth, it was impossible to continue to successfully combine the Festival’s two areas - creative arts activities and fun activities aimed at raising money - every year.

In 2005 it was decided to hold the Festival biennially. The P&F expressed a desire to hold a School Fair and hence the first Kingfisher Fair was created.  It continued in the tradition of bringing the whole school together, as well as inviting the wider Albany community to share in the fun and games associated with a Fair.

2023

Planning for the P&F Kingfisher Fair is well underway and your P&F class or year rep may have already been in touch asking for suggestions for your stall at the Fair. It could be something that has been done before and is tried and tested, or it could be a completely new idea. Let your imagination run free as we work together to create an inclusive community event that brings all the fun of the Fair to GSG.

Once stall ideas have been finalised, Volunteer Sign Up sheets will be distributed via reps (and this page) so that families can easily put their hand up to fill a spot on a roster or two, bake a cake(s) for the P&F Tea House or help with the carriage rides and car parking etc.

You will also soon receive information regarding Expressions of Interest to be a ‘Trade Exhibitor’ at the Fair. This is an exciting opportunity to promote your small business and/or your entrepreneurial flair. It will include the very successful 'Student Enterprise' category, where GSG students have the opportunity to promote their own 'side hustle'. We know we have a wide range of budding entrepreneurs and look forward to supporting their ventures at the Fair.
