Classroom Parent Help

This week your child will bring home a letter asking if you would like, and be available, to support learning in their classroom. This follows on from a successful Connect-Ed program in Term 1.

The purpose of inviting helpers into the classroom is two-fold. It further develops the very important home-school connection. Students can see that parents and teachers are invested in their learning and work together to support students in the classroom. It also enables individual or small group work to occur whilst teachers are working with other students.

The information is outlined in the letter but you do not need to have attended the Connect-Ed program to volunteer your time. It is a legal requirement that you have a valid Working With Children's Check. It is free to apply (as a volunteer) and is done online.

The classroom teacher will have the activity organised and explain it to you before you support the students. The teacher will be in the classroom while you are working.

There are different times available on different days to suit your week. All we ask is that you commit to a time each week so that teachers can plan for the classroom. Understandably if you are unable to attend on a week then please get in touch with the teacher so they can re-adjust their timetable accordingly.

Please consider being part of our collaborative team to support and enhance student learning at MRPS.
