VCE Model UN

On the 4 August, Year 11 and 12 Indonesian students had an opportunity to participate in the Model UN Conference that was held in collaboration by the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) and the Victorian Indonesian Language Teachers’ Association (VILTA). The UN Conference was specifically on the topic of “Sustainable Cities”. Many schools were gathered in the auditorium of the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership, in which small groups of 3 or 4 were formed within the schools to represent members of the UN, such as Indonesia, Australia, Canada, China, Saudi Arabia, USA, and Japan - just to name a few. Our school represented Nigeria and Lithuania at the UN conference and this demonstrated to be a beneficial and exciting experience for the VCE students. Furthermore, the activity alsoenhanced the students confidence and love of learning Indonesian.

Salam,

Ibu Trina

The Year 11 and 12 Indonesian classes alongside with Ibu Trina, had the opportunity to attend the UN Model Conference which was presented in Indonesian. This event involved many schools who also learn Indonesian and who took on the roles of many countries who are part of the UN. We discussed a topic and this year the topic was sustainable cities. This event allowed us to expand our confidence in verbal and written communication within the language as we had to interact with students from other schools. This experience is something I would want to try again as I was able to develop my skills and meet new people. For those who want to develop or enjoy public speaking, I recommend picking up a LOTE as it will benefit you in many ways.

Salam,
