Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community,

Prayer (For our First Communicants)

Lord Jesus Christ, bless the children coming forward to receive Holy Communion for the first time.

May this day be the step toward a life-long love of the Eucharist.

Give them a hunger for this sacred food so that they turn to you for comfort, guidance, and wisdom as they grow into full discipleship.

Thank you for their innocence and goodness.

May their hands, extended in anticipation of your body and blood, inspire all of us to cherish this sacred Sacrament.

Amen.

First Eucharist Candidates (Thoughts before Sunday......)

Katelin: making your first communion means I should try to show kindness, care for others, look after God's Creation and try my best and live by the messages in the Gospel Stories. This is called living a Eucharistic Life

Lauren: you can always do good deeds even if you have not made your Eucharist

Roman: I have learnt about the Eucharistic life which is about being a good person

Maxi: making my Eucharist will bring me closer to Jesus

Isabella: I am excited to make my First Communion because God is accepting me to participate in a very important event

Jasmine: I am excited because I can become closer to God

Harper: I am excited and a bit nervous about making my First Communion because I know I will be closer to God

Allie: I know that the Eucharist is about sharing and caring just like Jesus showed in his actions

Aleisha: I am excited because I am going to receive the Bread and have a closer bond with Jesus

Gail Martina: I wanted to make my Eucharist so I can accept Jesus in my heart and to be more connected to him and God

We congratulate our students receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist this Sunday for the first time. We pray for them and their families as they continue to navigate their faith journey.

Parent Evening - "Communicating with your child post COVID"

As mentioned in last week's newsletter, our School Board is sponsoring a parent information evening later this term on Thursday 31st August. The evening will be facilitated by our school counsellor Melanie D'Vaz and will cover the topic of communication with our children especially with the challenges of a post COVID environment. More detail can be gained by reading Kate's section in this newsletter. Further details will also be given as the date draws closer. These evenings in 2018 and 2019 proved invaluable for those parents and guardians who attended with feedback from attendees being very positive.
