Here’s what’s happening in CAREERS

13th July - I had the pleasure of Miss Sian Moore’s company and Year 10 students when we visited the Beacon Foundation “Work Readiness” program in AON in Melbourne on 13th July.  Our students were remarkable in getting to the city by public transport and impressed the panel of Insurance Brokers, Lawyers and Paralegals with their questions and discussions about their future pathways as well as the view from the 51st floor window.

20th July – On this day I had the pleasure of Mr. Jeffrey JI and Mr Nick Smith’s company and Year 10 students – Pathways and Mainstream when 27 students visited Cummins in Scoresby - another Beacon Foundation “Work Readiness” program.  Our students were very impressed by the various positions their Mentors spoke about and supported them in finding out their future pathways based on their skills and interests.

26th July – Our Year 10 students travelled to the city on their own to undertake Beacon Foundation “Work Readiness” program at Clayton UTZ where their Mentors were Lawyers and Paralegals.  The students asked insightful questions and held discussions about their future pathways. I thank Mrs Gowri Nair for her assistance.

27th July – Our second last group of Year 10 students had the amazing opportunity of travelling to the city to meet with Mentors from Griffith-Hack, Beacon Foundation “Work Readiness” program.  This company deals with patents and the legal association in the pharmaceutical industry. Miss Michelle Collins has been amazing with her support to our students and myself.

Thank you to our Education Support Staff Mrs Kim, Ms Barb and Mrs Vicky for all their support in chasing up excursion notes.  These ladies are the movers and shakers.

Today our Year 12 VCE cohort have had Thea from ACCESS Monash facilitate a lively workshop on applying to VTAC in order to gain entry into University or TAFE on completion of Year 12.
