National Christian Schools Sports – Athlete Nominations for 2017
National Christian Schools Sports – is a high quality multi-sport carnival that honours God and recognises excellence in student sporting endeavour. The NCSS is held every two years and in 2017 will take place in Sydney, with expected competitor numbers to reach eight hundred athletes from five states. The sports on offer in 2017 include Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Tennis and Volleyball. Students that are enrolled in a CSEN member school are eligible to nominate for selection in these
sports.

Saturday, 13th May – Friday, 19th May, 2017
Nomination Process
Students from Years 6 – 11 in 2016 that wish to be selected to represent Victoria at the National Christian Schools Sports (NCSS), must nominate via the green “NCSS Representative Teams” button on the CSEN website (www.christianschoolssport.com.au) no earlier than Friday 22nd July, 2016 and no later than Thursday 15th September, 2016.
Trial Process
Compulsory trials for Basketball, Soccer and Tennis shall take place on Monday, 12th September 2016, with successful athletes invited to a second trial day on Thursday 6th October, 2106. After the second trial the final Victorian teams will be selected .
Expected Costs
Although final figures are not yet available, the cost to athletes shall not exceed $1400 (Uniforms are extra).

Melbourne International Film Festival
On Friday, August 5th a group of 40 French students will be heading in to the city for the Melbourne International Film Festival. This group is made up of selected Year 8 French students, and the Year 9 Elective French class. We will be seeing an animated historical drama called 'Adama', which will be in French, with English subtitles. This film was the winner of the Best of the Fest Award and the Liv Ullmann Peace Prize at the 2015 Chicago International Children's Film Festival; and is recommended for students in the Year 7-9 age range.
Bottles Needed
We are looking for donations of 1.25L drink bottles from the upcoming Maths/Science Night. If you have any, there will be a box located at Reception to collect these in. Thank you in advance.

Premier's Reading Challenge
A reminder to those who registered for Victorian Premier Reading Challenge to log in and list the books they have read to be verified. Students have been advised of their login and password details.
Prep to Year 2 students need to read or experience 30 books listed in the challenge. Year 3 and above need to read 15 books listed in the challenge.
Any students who need help in selecting books to read that are suitable for their year level can ask the Discovery Centre staff for help and guidance.
The closing date for this challenge is Friday, 2 September, 2016.
