A letter about litter from our JSC representatives

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have noticed a lot of litter in the school yard. We would like your help to reduce it. Most of the litter is things that are within school lunch boxes such as wrappers and general food packaging. Here are a few ideas we had at our JSC meeting that we hope you can help us with.

• Buy in bulk. When buying snacks (such as chips or popcorn), buy them in bigger packets rather than single-serve packets, and divide them into reusable containers or paper bags. 
• Rather than buying individual yoghurt pouches, buy a large tub and put a serve into a reusable container each day.
• Make your own food at home.
• Avoid packing food that comes in single-use plastic packaging.
• Grow fruit and vegetables at home if possible.

Just changing one of these ideas will help our school become an even better place.
