Music Therapy Placement Students

This term, our music therapist Bingyao is joined by two music therapy students who are doing placement at Hamlyn Views School. They will be here on Fridays and some Mondays in Term 3 and the first half of Term 4. They will be shadowing Bingyao in classrooms, band and choir.

Rhoslyn hails from a small country town called Orange, situated in the central west of New South Wales. I grew up surrounded by music, starting piano lessons at age 6 and flute lessons at age 8. By the time I reached high school, my schedule was crammed full of music lessons, band practice, and choir. In 2017, I auditioned for the Queensland Conservatorium of Music on flute and was accepted into their Bachelor of Music programme. I moved to Brisbane and lived there for 5 years, during which time I played in the Queensland Youth Symphony and the Australian Youth Orchestra.

After graduating, I realised that I wanted to work in the community. I auditioned for the Master of Music Therapy at the University of Melbourne and was accepted for 2023. I look forward to getting to know everyone over the next few months, while we share and make music together.

Lachie is undertaking placement at HVS as a student of the Master of Music Therapy at the University of Melbourne. He is originally trained as a pianist and also plays guitar and percussion. He enjoys listening to and playing a diverse range of music but especially enjoys jazz, house and ambient music. Lachie is strongly passionate about music therapy and the unique musical and emotional experience and connection it inspires for each person.
