A Message From Our Assistant Principal

Dear parents and carers,

August has seen us have some very cold mornings, but also some lovely sunny days. This month we celebrated 101 Days of Foundation on 1st August. Students and staff dressed up as 101 Dalmatians and celebrated this occasion. Celebrating 101 days and the Foundation year is a pivotal milestone in your child’s education journey and we enjoy recognising this. The Foundation teachers have noticed a huge amount of growth in student learning since the start of the year to now and we thank you for entrusting Hamlyn Views School with your child’s education.

New Bus

We have had some exciting news with the delivery of a new school bus provided to us by Variety- The Children’s Charity. Staff are busy organising excursions and practise sessions on the bus with our Foundation sessions.

Staff News

As Paul our school Chaplain has reduced his work days at Hamlyn Views, Amber Ward has commenced working at Hamlyn Views on Fridays. Among other things Amber is working with the senior girls group on building connections and friendships. Paul still continues on a Monday at HVS.

Wanda Skattebo, Education Support in Early Years Purple will commence her maternity leave after the Term 3 school holidays. We wish Wanda well as she starts this exciting  time in her life, and look forward to her sharing some special news soon.

Sue has enjoyed some very well deserved long service leave this week. We hope she has had a wonderful time.

The Parent Survey

Just a reminder regarding the parent survey our school is conducting to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023. All families are invited to participate in the survey. We value your contribution…..

Book Week Celebrations

Book Week Celebrations have occurred this week. HVS celebrated with a week-long celebration including an interactive Paper Planet incursion with Polyglot Theatre, with options for parents and carers to join, character parade for the school community, as well as classroom activities throughout the week incorporating AAC. Thank you to parents for celebrating this with us, it has been a really fun week. Thank you to Terese for organising an excellent incursion.

School Photos

If your child was away for school photos on 14th and 15th August, we have other opportunities on Wednesday 30th August to re-take these. Please speak with the office staff if you need to re-organise a time.

Have a week everyone!

Regards,
