Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Student Learning Conferences and Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings

It has been fantastic to have so many families in the school this week to celebrate the learning and achievements of their children during Student Learning Conferences and SSG's.

This has been our first time conducting Student Learning Conferences at Armstrong Creek School and it has been wonderful to allow students to take a lead role in sharing with their families what they have been learning, what they have achieved and what their next steps in learning are. It was really nice to see and feel a 'real community vibe' with many siblings also participating in the conferences.

SSG's will continue next week as well as some Student Learning Conferences that were unable to be conducted this week. If you have been unable to make a booking but still wish to have a Student Learning Conference with your child and their teachers, please discuss this with your child's home group teacher.

Parents and Community Club (PACC) Meeting

On Tuesday, our second official PACC meeting was held and it was great to see a number of new faces attending.

The major focus of the meeting was to discuss and plan for our upcoming Father's Day stall  Wednesday 29th August. If you would like to support this PACC led activity please contact the office as we do need at least 6 more volunteers.

The next meeting will on Tuesday 28th August  at 7p.m. and it would be great to see both new and familiar faces there.

We have established an email distribution list for this group so if you would like to be added to this and receive general information, agendas and meeting notes please contact the school. We are also in the process of setting up a Facebook Page for the group and we are also happy to add interested people.

Story Time for 2019 Preps

We were very excited to welcome many of our 2019 Preps, their parents and siblings to the Armstrong Creek School community at our first Story Time session this morning.

This time last year we had no students officially enrolled and no staff other than myself employed. We were unable to do anything like Story Time without a school as it was still being built. What a difference a year makes!

School staff, led by Assistant Principal Kathryn Sier, introduced children to our school environment and what it 'looks'like, feels like and sounds like to be an Armstrong Creek School student.

Children read the story 'I Spy' and then explored a range of activities relating to the story. The session finished with a song and it is evident that these children are already 'so ready' for school. Congratulations to you all!

Our next session will be on Friday August 10th at 9.30 a.m. Please register via the following link if you haven't already.

School Times

We have noticed an increasing number of students, who independently travel to school, arriving quite early during the last couple of weeks. Please remember that our school gates will open at 8.30 a.m. and students and families are welcome to enter the school at this time to prepare for learning to commence at 9 a.m.

To ensure the safety of all students, we ask for your support in ensuring that children arrive at the appropriate times. If children need to be at school earlier for any reason, they are able to attend the before school program run by the YMCA (details later in this newsletter).

Bus Stop and School Driveway Work

On Monday work will be completed by local council on Central Boulevard to install a public bus stop and reinstate the driveway crossover on the exit of our main car park. This work should have limited if any impact on the school; however, there is a chance the exit driveway will be out of action in the afternoon. If this occurs we will have staff monitoring traffic in the car park and ensuring a safe and smooth departure from school.

Have a happy and safe weekend.
