Senior Unit
Graduation
On the 18th of December, the Year 6's of 2018 spent the night graduating.
To start off the night the Year 6's went to the Victoria Hotel in Woodend and enjoyed their preordered dinner, drink and dessert. When they finished they went on a pleasant evening walk back to school where they got ready to make their entrance. As they got ready the parents were watching a video that was made by our amazing Mr Chamerski on our year so far. The students then walked in and performed High Hopes. Then we had student speeches and awards.
- Mary Ann Thomas Award (Citizenship) went to Lily ($50)
- The Principal's Award (School Values) went to Maddie and Luci ($50)
- Principal's Award (Contribution to School) went to Frida and Darcie ($50)
- Lions Club (Commitment to Studies) Gemma and Thomas ($500)
- Rotary Club went to Lachlan and Sol ($250)
They all earned their awards and we are sure that all the money will go to a good cause. After this, all the students did their final dance (Chasing the Sun) and walked out into the courtyard to sign jumpers and teddy bears. In all this, it was a great night and everyone looked amazing. We would also like to quickly thank everyone that helped set up and all the teachers who came for being absolutely awesome. -Gemma D.H
Year 6 - Teachers speech
I’d like to warmly thank everyone here this evening. It is our pleasure to say a few words of farewell and congratulations to our Graduating Class of Year 6, 2018.
We hope that we have prepared you well for Secondary School and that you will all reach your full potential.
- We’ve had a unique year without a composite grade.
- We had 51 students who worked as a team and did amazing things.
- We had students wanting to make a change in the school.
- We had students wanting to make a change in the community.
- We had students wanting to make a change in the world.
- We gave them a say in what they wanted to learn and how. They ran with it.
- We threw obstacle after obstacle at them. They did not flinch. They took it on and proved they were up for the challenge.
We hope they know how proud this school is of them because we can honestly say that there has not been a year level that we have been involved with that even after going on a camp with them, we’ve actually thought, we could do another couple of days. They’ve made this year easy.
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.
You'll look up and down streets. Look 'em over with care.
About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there."
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.
And you may not find any
you'll want to go down.
In that case, of course,
you'll head straight out of town.
It's opener there
in the wide open air.
Out there things can happen
and frequently do
to people as brainy
and footsy as you.
And then things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.
OH!
THE PLACES YOU'LL GO! (Dr. Seuss)
In conclusion, let us please thank each of you for the great life and leadership you have provided to the Primary school community this year. You are a talented and compassionate group of young people with a bright future ahead.
For us, it has been a privilege sharing your final year of primary school with you.
Even though you are all at different schools next year, you are always welcome in our classrooms.
That is a promise.
So as we present the certificates to our Year 6 students, we can honestly say that we feel that the future is safe in these children’s hands ‘cause every little thing gonna be all right. Thank you.
- Mr Chamerski & Mrs Minchew
School Lectern
This week, we had some help to renew our school lectern. It now looks fabulous! Thank you to Dannielle’s husband, Matt for the front of the lectern. Thanks for Vanessa for the coat of varnish and thanks to Hand Made Cards by Tanya for the personalised school logo decal.
FunFields
Over the last couple of months, the 2018 Year 6's have been fundraising for their end of year trip to Funfields. From discos to dog walking we all put in our effort towards this excursion. The ride that was a big hit was called 'gravity wave', this ride was a must, with lines getting up to 2 hours long, but in the end, it was all worth it. Wednesday was a great day we all had a great final celebration for Year 6. The bus ride home was just as good as the rest of the day when we thought we all would be sleeping, instead we decided to sing all of our graduation songs. It was a day I will never forget. Thank you to all the help and support our teachers have given us to get us where we are today. This was the big bang to finish off our hard-working years of primary school and our wonderful last year all together. -Caitlin
