Clontarf Presentation Night

Our Annual Awards night is coming up on the 20th November and it would be great to see members of our school community there!

Wellbeing Donations Welcome

Wellbeing is happy to accept second-hand uniforms, textbooks or stationery items (e.g.

workbooks).

We pass these on to students who need them, but our supplies are currently low. Anything would be

gratefully received.

Please drop items off at Wellbeing/Sick Bay office (near the tennis courts at the back of the school).

Senior Girls State Cricket Final

On Tuesday 15th October in Melbourne the Warrnambool College girls played in the State level Senior Girls Cricket Final. Our Captain – Chloe Mckenzie led the side very well, with strong bowling performances from Hannah Rooke, Charlotte Poyner and Shona Noske-Poulton. In the field – Steph Rea kept wickets strongly, Chloe O’Leary saved lots of boundaries and Sasha White took an excellent catch. With the bat, Layla Wilson worked hard for her runs and Charlotte Poyner had a terrific all-round match – batting superbly in the lower order. However, our opposition was too strong for us on the day. The match was played in great spirit by both sides and our girls certainly did us proud. Thank you to Mr. Tait Niddrie for assisting, Mr. Matthew Williams for the organisation and all the parents for getting our students to school by 4:30am in the morning.

Regional Arts Victoria - Jo Grant Visit

In week one of Term 4, it was fantastic to welcome Jo Grant, Regional Arts Victoria representative to Warrnambool College for a discussion about being a young creative person in Warrnambool. The students shared ideas regarding what inspires them in this region and potential future projects within the local community. Thank you to Jo for also donating two copies of her photography book to the school library, a wonderful resource for our students.

"Be very confident in our young people, they are intelligent and smart in their demands of the future. Thank you Warrnambool College for having me today to hear from your students about what the arts means to them and how it should contribute to where we live.” Jo Grant.

Betty Amsden Scholarship (Melbourne Theatre Company)

My nomination of Courtney  McFadden (Childers Year 10 ) for the Betty Amsden MTC Scholarship was successful. Combined with my recommendation, Courtney also had to express why this opportunity would be of benefit to her. Courtney and her family spent a week in Melbourne during the recent school holidays courtesy of The Melbourne Theatre Company. She participated in many workshops which culminated in a devised performance for teachers, family and friends on Friday October 4th during the school holidays. I was in the audience and truly amazed at the performance. Courtney is on the far right with her fellow participants and  new friends in the photo.  This is the third year we have had a successful application in this amazing program.  In 2018 Sophie O'Brien relished the experience as did Sarah Walters in 2017.

MTC have supported our Theatre Studies program over the last few years with their 'Sharing the Light Foundation.' They have provided so many wonderful experiences for our students and I thank them for continually  supporting Warrnambool college.

Commedia dell 'Arte  Incursion

On Thursday Sept 19th  Make-A-Scene theatre company came to Warrnambool College to instruct our students in the 16th Century Italian Theatre Style of Commedia dell'Arte. Pictured are the Year 10 and 11 Drama/Theatre students after a fabulous workshop led by Make-A-Scene director  Rosa Compangaro. It was an excellent Masterclass  which our students loved. During the visit there was also a performance in the afternoon for not only our workshop participants but also the Year 7's currently studying Drama.  It was an amazing day!
