Clontarf Newsletter

The Warrnambool Clontarf Academy has had an action-packed first half of term 2, with the boys undertaking a range of different activities at school and throughout the wider Warrnambool community. We have loved seeing the boys getting involved in events such as the ANZAC Day march, the East Warrnambool Primary School buddies program, partaking in a Hepatitis C health workshop, involvement with TAFE through working with the STOMP group and students with disabilities, the construction of a tree in partnership with Bunnings for Reconciliation week, cooking biscuits for Mothers Day, a football match against Kings College played in great spirit and also the commencement of both early morning and after school training sessions including boxing, spin classes and a basketball session with Warrnambool Seahawk and American import Xavier Blount. Some key events and activities are summarised below:

Our Warrnambool Academy boys marching proudly for themselves, their families and their communities by paying their respects to the sprit and sacrifice of the ANZACS, alongside Warrnambool College teaching staff. A fantastic experience with one of our boys speaking in front of the large crowd and reading a commemorative verse.

Participating in the East Warrnambool Primary School buddies program. Each Monday, a group of Clontarf boys engage with grade 3-4 students and assist them with their literacy and reading and communication skills. Our boys really look forward to this opportunity and have already built really positive relationships with the school and the students, while developing their own leadership abilities.

Clontarf boys played board games with the STOMP group at TAFE, working closely with students with disabilities. The boys had a great time and really enjoyed getting to know each other, conducting themselves exceptionally well.

Morning trainings have been a feature of the term so far. Here, the boys are partaking in a 7am boxing session, no mean feat with the temperature now quite fresh in the Warrnambool mornings. Each session is followed by a hot breakfast in the academy room, a great way for the boys to start their Friday!

Staff Thank You

A huge thanks to all of the staff across both our academy schools for their time, care and energy invested into our academy boys across the first half of term two, but also in an ongoing capacity. Your support of the Warrnambool Clontarf Academy is making a really positive difference in the lives of these young men. Please get in touch with us if there are any other ways for us to offer our support with the boys in or away from the classroom or other ways that teachers and school staff can interact with our academy.
