Opening Mass

"AGENTS OF PEACE"

Our Opening Mass was held on Tuesday 10 February. We warmly welcomed the presence of Bishop Hanna, Fr Plunkett, Fr Bernie, Br John Wright, Sr Barbara Webber – Patron of Webber House, representatives of the Presentation Sisters, representatives of the Catholic Schools Office, and parents and friends.

As we begin a new school year we are conscious of the highs and lows that we have experienced in the world over the past few weeks. We remember the peace that our world needs at this time. In our school communities, let us be agents for peace. We remember Jesus, the prince of peace, in everything that we say and do. The theme for the mass was ‘Agents of Peace’; this year we start a new journey in a place that has chosen us and called us to a challenging commitment. Ours is the call to live as followers of Jesus Christ as we study, learn, teach, share, play, and live together in peace and understanding together we are “Agents of Peace”.

Our College Captains and House Captains were inducted with the help of their very proud parents and our Year 7 students had the opportunity to post a letter of their hopes and dreams to their Year 12 selves. At the end of the Mass, representatives from each Homegroup processed out with a candle to be used each day in Homegroups during prayer, to remind us daily of the light of Christ showing us the way, helping us to Live God’s Message.

The music was uplifting, thanks to our amazing musicians and singers under the guidance of our new Music Teacher, Ms Catherine Nash. Thanks to Ms Mel Cramp who prepared Year 7 so beautifully to process in with their letters. A fitting way to welcome them as our newest members of the College!
