Open Night

Mater Dei Open Night – Tuesday 3 March

Open Night at Mater Dei Catholic College is an opportunity to show the region something of the unique environment and modern teaching and learning approaches inherent in our distinctive community.   This is an important part of the enrolment process for 2016, which will take place later this term.

Education is much more than results at the end of thirteen years of schooling. Through our Catholic faith based approach to learning, Mater Dei Catholic College strives to support students to become young adults who can recognise, have access to, and take up opportunities that will grow them as compassionate people with integrity and moral strength to make right and just decisions. We lead our students on this journey by sharing the “Good News” of the Catholic Church and by making every effort to actively pursue our College Motto which is to “Live God’s Message.”

We are actively encouraging families to attend our Open Night, who will understand and support the Christian values and the culture behind Mater Dei’s provision of a holistic education. At Mater Dei we are committed to using our excellent resources and facilities to develop a culture that utilises contemporary research and teaching practice that fosters a love of learning.

In opening our College to the wider community, we acknowledge Mater Dei Catholic College:

¨  Is a Catholic College filled with rich Christian traditions;

¨  Strives for academic improvement through a sustained engagement in a stimulating teaching and learning program;

¨  Is an intimate rural College that builds on trusting, interpersonal relationships;

¨  Prides itself on inclusive practices;

¨  Wants each student to feel special about his or her contribution and effort, that is, to know success or achievement in some aspect of College Life and to be acknowledged for it;

¨  Encourages a balanced approach to life that integrates the spiritual, academic, physical and cultural spheres of the College;

¨  Insists on high standards of dress, behaviour, appearance, commitments and relationships, and makes no apologies in doing so; and,

¨  Wants students to feel secure and thoroughly enjoy their time at the College.

The Mater Dei community welcomes all students and parents/carers to join with staff and students for our Open Night, which will be held on Tuesday 3 March, commencing with tours of the College at 6.00pm. This will be followed by a presentation in the Multi-Purpose Hall from 7.30pm to 8.00pm. Prospective parents and students are invited to participate in tours of the College, meet the staff and to ask questions that will help shape their understanding of what might be their educational future. Open Night is an evening for entertainment and information and an opportunity to experience first-hand the talents or our students and the advantages of our excellent educational facilities, amidst the warmth and friendliness of the entire College community.
