Senior School

Years 10 to 12

It’s hard to believe that we have just completed the longest stretch of onsite learning in nearly two years! Congratulations to all students who have successfully transitioned back to normal school day life.

There has been some great camaraderie shown already among the Yr 12 students through their enthusiastic dressing up and participation in the Swimming and Athletics carnivals where a great time was had by all, unfortunately in the recent staff v student Netball game the staff team were clear winners so the student’s confidence has been taken down a notch or two! Well done to all involved and we look forward to the upcoming Basketball game!

At the beginning of the Term we conducted assemblies with each of the senior year levels with the focus being on having a re-set now we are back at school full time. We want all students to be positive members of our school community both in the yard and in class, being prepared for class was a big part of this and the emphasis on taking the right equipment (pencil case with a selection of pens, writing book and device) to every class and being on time was clearly discussed.

We will be continuing to work with students and families to re-establish appropriate behaviours and study patterns to ensure students learning and achievement are at the optimal level.

Year 10 male identifying students were fortunate to attend the Tomorrow Man presentations. Students were greatly engaged with the sessions and some great feedback was received from students and families about the value of this program, we are investigating the possibility of further sessions from this program for all students.

Please note the weather is already cooling down so it’s a good time to check your student has enough school uniform items to keep warm. Hoodies are not permitted at any time and no non uniform undergarments, including long sleeved tops should be visible. All items worn during the day should have the GSC logo on them, there are plenty of options available from Beleza and online ordering is available.

From the beginning of next term we will be changing the process for uniform passes, mobile phone incidents and late passes. Students will no longer go to the front office but instead report to Megan Penn in the Senior School office who will process these items.

A reminder for our Year 10 students that work experience takes place in early May and you should be well under way with your planning/organisation for this. There have been several posts on the Year 10 Team with extra information about this, so students please ensure you have read these posts and discuss with parents / carers as needed.

The Senior School members wish all families a happy and safe holiday and Easter break and look forward to Term 2.
