A Snapshot of Learning by Grade 2

The Grade 2 students have been learning that Lent is a special time of the year, when we reflect on our baptismal promises and think about how we are living out Jesus’ mission in our home, school and community.  The Grade two students understand that it is a time when God invites us to become better people.

The Grade 2 teachers discuss Lent as a time to ‘Turn Back to God.’ It is a time of Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. Whilst prayer is something that children engage readily in at St Simon’s, the notion of fasting and almsgiving can be a more distant and abstract concept for children to grasp.  Our caring and dedicated Grade 2 teachers have been encouraging their students to make their Lenten practices achievable and more tangible.

Our wonderful Grade 2 teachers this year are Ms Anna Mautone (Level Leader), Ms Tess Emerson-Jones and Mrs Nicole O’Sullivan.
