Term 1 Sport Report - Andrew Wright (Sports Manager)

What an awesome start to the year for our athletes on the courts, in the pool and on the fields, spiking, serving and swimming their way to a highly successful term one.

SWIMMING CARNIVAL

Mrs. Sanford and students in a sack race!
Mrs. Sanford and students in a sack race!

With a strong emphasis on community, the day was not just a day for the strong swimmers with beachballs, giant inflatables, badminton, wiffle ball, beach cricket and ring toss amongst a whole range of fun activities to engage the students. With DJ Lynch pumping out the tunes and the sun shining on the Aquanation lawn area, the day had a fantastic community feel to it. For many of our students it was their first proper Heathmont swimming carnival and didn’t they get involved. Well done to all students and staff for helping make it such a great day. All events contributed to the final score with Flynn coming out on top. Congratulations!

1st – Flynn (687 pts), 2nd – Gilmore (601 pts), 3rd – Hollows (573 pts) and 4th – Monash (490 pts)

And finally, a MASSIVE good luck to Kyla C, Alyssa C, Ishara R and Jasmine G that are in Sydney over the next week competing in the Australian Track & Field Championships. It’s a huge achievement for these athletes to make Nationals and is reward for their huge training load. These students are representing themselves and their athletics clubs at Nationals but I feel it’s appropriate as a school to wish them all the best in the week ahead. I hope you run/throw/jump a PB. Your school community is supporting you!
