Staff Spotlight - Charlotte Brew
How long have you been teaching?
4 Years
What is your favourite subject to teach? How many subjects have you taught since you've been here?
English. I've also taught VCAL and Humanities.
What did you do before you started at Heathmont?
I was a swimming teacher, tutor and worked at different schools as an assistant on school camps.
Why did you become a teacher?
My parents are both teachers, so I always knew it was something I wanted to do. I know it's lame but I do genuinely enjoy helping people get better in English so I figured that teaching was the best way to do that.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
If I'm lazy, I scroll a lot of Tik Tok, play with my cat and eat Grilld. If I'm active I go to the gym, boulder and ski/surf (depending on the season)
What’s your favourite quote?
"Do you want to go and get a chai latte?" - Miss Allen
What is your favourite book or play, and why?
I'm cursed as an English teacher because I read so many books work and now, I don't enjoy reading as much. The last book I read that I really loved was 'The Dry' by Jane Harper, but I enjoyed reading 'To Kill a Mockingbird' and 'Burial Rites' for school.
What are some of your favourite things about coming to school every day? What do you like about Heathmont?
Heathmont genuinely has some of the nicest students who are so interesting to chat to. Students are always looking out for each other and show so much kindness. For instance, if I'm on Yard Duty Tessa in Year 10 will come and find me with some of her friends so I 'don't have to be alone'. I love that I get the opportunity to watch students grow up every year. Coming to school every day also means I get to see my work bestie Miss Allen 🙂.
