Where are they now? Madi Dennis

Graduating last year, Madison Dennis was awarded our Valedictorian for 2021. Madi involved herself in many aspects of college life from the day she walked into the school; in productions, volunteering, and as a College Captain. We spoke with Madi about what she has been up to since finishing Year 12.

Since I graduated in 2021, I have been building the stepping stones to begin this new chapter of my life. I got accepted to my #1 course which was Criminology at Deakin University, however have deferred for a year to give myself a break. In the meantime, I have been continuing on with my current job as a dance teacher, which in January of 2022 lead me to my first choreography job for a local theatre company which was super exciting and a great opportunity. I have also recently been in the rehearsal process for a show coming up in early April with Fab Nobs Theatre called Sweeney Todd; as my first adult show its been an amazing learning experience for me. Furthermore, I recently joined the committee at Fab Nobs Theatre as a general member and I'm so excited for that new window in my life.

Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?

In 5 to 10 years I see myself graduated from a university degree with a stable job in the justice system, preferably forensic science or detective work for the Victorian Police force... being able to help others find justice while pursuing some my all time passions: science and true crime. If forensic science doesn't work out, I'd love to join the Police force and work within the specials unit swat teams or the dog squad. In 5 to 10 years, I would love to have my own place with my dream dog (which is a Husky or Mini Pomeranian), with a garden full of cacti and a few fish tanks, as I secretly have a love for aquariums and marine life.

What were some of your most enjoyable or memorable moments at Heathmont?

One of my most enjoyable memories from high school was the Heathmont school productions. I was a part of them every year and they have shaped my love for the performing arts, which I'm continuing outside of school. They were always such a happy and warm experience and I'm so happy I participated in all of them. I made friends through the productions that I still speak to now that left the school years ago, so if any of you are thinking about auditioning, just go for it. I promise you won't regret it. Lastly, just spending quality time with all my teachers throughout the years. It didn't matter in what setting, I always felt loved and cared for from all my teachers at Heathmont and they truly shaped some of my most memorable moments.

What do you love about the Heathmont

I'll be honest... I miss going to school at Heathmont a lot. However I especially miss the teachers at the school. Heathmont truly have the most dedicated, amazing and inspiring teachers I know; seeing all my amazing teachers everyday for 6 years, I truly miss their company and I can't believe it's all over. In my opinion, I believe all the teachers deeply care for their students lives inside and outside of the classroom and i couldn't be more thankful for the advice that I've received that still sticks with me now. I miss you Heathmont!
