Curriculum Day - Staff Professional Development

As mentioned by Mr Barren, our staff participated in the first day of four with the Berry Street Educational Model Training on the recent Curriculum Day. This professional learning will better equip our staff to meet the social and emotional wellbeing needs of all students.

Inclusion

Last week we were lucky enough to have past LPPS parent and inclusion advocate Julie Fisher present us with a book called Talk to Me!  This book is written by Kate Hingston, a mini chapter book for children.  The book addresses disability from a child’s perspective.  Talk to Me! Encourages just that...conversations which lead to understanding, acceptance and ultimately, inclusion.

In the front cover is a photo of past LPPS student Darcy.  Darcy and his Mum provided us with so much knowledge around inclusion and the importance of having conversations.  We are so grateful to have received this book for our school Library.  It is now on the shelves ready to borrow and I encourage parents to enjoy it if you see it come home in your child’s bag.  If the book is on loan, simply head to our library website, have your student login using the details on their library Browser card, and reserve the book.
