Primary News

From the Deputy

What a brilliant ELC and Primary BBQ last week.  I was blessed to see so many of you enjoying the evening and engaging in conversations.  Thank you to the staff who assisted with the evening and also to those who brought a salad or dessert.  Please enjoy the photos of the evening both here below and on the Admin page of the newsletter.

I have attached a link to a survey for you to complete in regards to this event.  The survey will allow you to provide feedback for us to improve the evening; it will close on 20 March at 10:00pm.  The link is:

Primary choir commenced this week.  We are so blessed to have Mrs Elly Sands working with Mrs Tamra Baker, Mrs Sarah Mosbey, and Mrs Tanya Mikhail.  If your child would like to begin or continue with the Primary choir, please complete the parent permission form that was sent home in Week 5.  If your child requires another form, please contact their class teacher.

As a school, we have many students with varied health needs, in particular, nut allergies.  Could I please alert you to the need for the Tyndale Primary community to ensure nut products are not brought to school.  I have attached a letter for your perusal.

We have some fantastic events planned over the next two weeks.  It is great to see many teachers planning their Term 1 excursions.  Next newsletter we will have a full wrap-up of the Primary Sport’s Day!  Please stay tuned to your child’s class Dojo posts for more information.

I am very excited to see the student progress over the next two weeks.

Enjoy your weekend!

Buddy Classes

Here we have photos of our Year 3 and Year 8 students enjoying Buddy Class activities together.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN is a national assessment of students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 and all eligible students are expected to participate. NAPLAN is a snapshot of students’ abilities in reading, writing, numeracy and language conventions and the consistent assessment can provide data for the nation and individual schools to develop their curriculum and pedagogy. This year NAPLAN will be conducted online for Years 5, 7, 9 and Year 3 Numeracy, Language Conventions and Reading. The Year 3 Writing test will still be completed on paper. NAPLAN testing will be conducted between the 12 May and 22 May, 2020.

In preparation, teachers are familiarising students with the online platform and test conditions. We also have a Nationally Coordinated Practice Test on the 23 March 2020. This is an opportunity for all schools to test the online platform and resolve any issues prior to the live testing in Term 2.

Should you have any concerns or queries regarding NAPLAN please contact Jessica Leslie at JessicaLeslie@tyndale.sa.edu.au for Primary and Narelle Kluge at NarelleKluge@tyndale.sa.edu.au for Secondary. We are more than happy to discuss ways we can support students through the experience.
