Local Library Memberships

Many Tyndale students already hold membership with the Alexandrina Libraries which have centres in 5 locations within the Alexandrina Council area. These are at Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Milang, Port Elliot and Mount Compass. For a catalogue and opening times visit www.alexandrina.sa.gov.au/libraries or phone 85557000 for library information.

Membership of the Alexandrina Council libraries links one to the OneCard Library system that enables a student to borrow from or return books to all the public libraries across the State. Other resources that may be helpful include eBooks, eAudiobooks and digital magazines. Some libraries have additional resources for onsite use – e.g. Lego and console games, Edison robots and, at Goolwa, a 3D Printer. The ‘Libraries SA’ app that can be downloaded and installed on a tablet and/or smartphone can help with navigating for resources.

Our first Tyndale Newsletter for the year includes:

  1. an enrolment form for child membership of the Alexandrina Libraries
  2. a Fair Use Policy statement

If you would like your child to have an Alexandrina Council Library membership, please complete the Enrolment form (or request one from the school Office) and return to the school via your child's class teacher.

We encourage families to explore this avenue of support for your students’ reading and, closer to home, we also encourage students to take on the Premier’s Reading Challenge with renewed enthusiasm for 2020.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Welcome to the New Year.

Premier’s Reading Challenge has begun for another year. The forms have now gone out to classes and the challenge is on!

New books have been added to the lists this year and the Resource Centre staff will have the appropriate level stickers on them shortly.

Families, remember to check the website, www.premiersreadingchallenge.sa.edu.au for yourselves to check out “Kidspace”, “Teenspace”, “Hall of Fame” lists, and much more.

2018 is our record year with 167 students completing the Challenge…let’s see if we can exceed that number this year!

Take the up the Challenge and get READING!! (just 12 books between now and 4 September 2020).
